About Lauren Luu, LMBT

license number #20273

My journey into massage therapy began with love and loss. After caring for my boyfriend through his two-year battle with end-stage liver disease, I felt a deep pull to help others ease pain and calm the nervous system. That calling led me to the prestigious Swedish Institute College of Health Sciences in New York City, where I earned my massage therapy degree in 2007—and have been practicing ever since.

In 2015, I deepened my understanding of the human body by completing a Master of Science in Interdisciplinary Sciences at Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine in New York City.

Myofascial Release: My Path & Passion

Myofascial Release Therapy (MFR) has become the heart of my practice—and my own healing. I was first introduced to MFR by one of my instructors, Carrie Taylor in massage school. She had developed her own MFR techniques and I trained privately with her after I graduated. It wasn't until early 2023 when I met a John F. Barnes' MFR practitioner, Dana DeGraw who gave me a whole new perspective on Barnes' seminars and education. Since then, I’ve immersed myself in the John F. Barnes’ Myofascial Release Approach, attending six seminars and continuing to train in this powerful modality.

With each session, I’ve learned to listen more deeply—to the fascia, to the body, to the silent stories our tissues hold. My mission is to help you unravel the restrictions that cause pain, limit movement, and hold you back from a joyful, vibrant life.

Fasciablasting: A New Perspective On Fascia

Since arriving to Asheville in early 2022, I was introduced to fasciablasting by a fellow massage therapist, Andrea Finley. She had been using the tools and witnessing dramatic results both personally and professionally with her clients. After experiencing the technique myself and witnessing its powerful effects firsthand—improved mobility, reduced pain, and visible changes in tissue health, particularly my scar tissue—I knew I had to dive deeper.

Fasciablasting opened up a new dimension in bodywork for me, allowing me to work with the fascia on a much deeper, more transformative level. Since then, I’ve continued to refine my approach, integrating fasciablasting with other evidence-based therapies to offer my clients results that are not only felt, but seen.

Philosophy

I believe in:

  • Listening first

  • Meeting clients where they are at

  • Holding space and honoring the process

  • Empowering clients to trust their body’s wisdom

  • Supporting your healing—not just physically, but emotionally and energetically

We all deserve to be free from pain. We all deserve to feel whole.

“Healing is not about fixing the body. It’s about restoring the natural flow of energy and allowing the body to return to its inherent wisdom.”

John F. Barnes, a pioneer in Myofascial Release (MFR) therapy

Healing Through Experience

In 2011, a cycling accident left me with a complete fracture of my left upper arm and clavicle. That personal journey through physical trauma and recovery shaped the compassionate, patient approach I bring to every session. I know what it’s like to live with pain—and how powerful true healing can be.
